Five months after Perl Harbor, the Doolittle Raiders
bombed Japan with land base bombers taking off from an aircraft carrier.
They delivered a psychological blow to the
Japanese and a psychological victory at the home front. This attack led to
the Battle of Midway. |

At the battle of Midway, four heavy Japanese aircraft
carriers were sunk. This was a major victory and the turning point during
the Second World War. |

President George Bush Sr. was shot down while
piloting a plane similar to this. His gunner and copilot were killed. He
bailed out and, in time, became President of the United States. |
